Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SpaceWeatherTracker.com ("we", "us", or "the Site") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit or use our website. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
SpaceWeatherTracker.com is an independent editorial and data website operated by Adrienne Bemis. It provides real-time space weather data, aurora forecasts, educational guides, and interactive tools. The site is not affiliated with NOAA, NASA, or any government agency.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the Site:
- Approximate location. If you use the location search or opt into geolocation, we pass a city or ZIP code to third-party geocoding APIs (Open-Meteo, Zippopotam) to compute local aurora, planet, and eclipse visibility. We do not store your precise coordinates on our servers.
- User submissions. Aurora sighting reports, contact form messages, and community posts you voluntarily submit are stored in our database.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via Google Tag Manager) to measure traffic, which drops cookies containing a random device identifier, referrer, and page-view data.
- Advertising. We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard access logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) for up to 30 days for abuse prevention.
3. How we use information
- To deliver the requested content and interactive tools (e.g. resolving a location to a forecast).
- To understand which pages are useful and improve editorial coverage.
- To display advertising that helps fund the site.
- To respond to messages sent via the contact form.
- To protect the Site against abuse, spam, and technical attacks.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies and advertising
This site uses cookies from Google AdSense and Google Analytics. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.
5. Third-party services
We rely on the following third parties, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google AdSense, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager (advertising and analytics).
- Supabase (database and authentication hosting).
- Cloudflare (edge hosting and DDoS protection).
- NOAA SWPC, NASA, Open-Meteo, and Zippopotam (public data APIs).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR in the EEA/UK and CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to opt out of sale of personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].
7. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
