Is Tonight a Good Night for Meteor Showers?
Whether tonight is worth watching depends on three real things: is a shower actually active, how dark will your sky get, and will the Moon or clouds get in the way? Search your location for a real answer.
Active tonight: Taurids
A long-running, low-rate shower actually made of two overlapping streams (Southern and Northern Taurids) from debris tied to Comet 2P/Encke. Rates are modest, but the Taurids are well known for producing an unusually high share of bright fireballs.
