The January 1938 'Fátima' Aurora

January 25, 1938Geomagnetic StormKp 9

What happened

A severe geomagnetic storm on the night of January 25–26, 1938 lit skies blood-red across Europe, North Africa, Bermuda, and as far south as Portugal, Gibraltar, and southern California. Widely reported in newspapers as a divine omen weeks before the outbreak of World War II, the display was later linked in Sister Lúcia's memoirs to the Fátima prophecy. Radio communications across the Atlantic were severely disrupted for hours.
